LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron wasn’t shy about praising Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow.

The morning after winning the national championship, LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron appeared on the Barstool Sports podcast Pardon My Take.

And he wasn’t shy about making a regal declaration.

When Orgeron, who appeared on the podcast after Joe Burrow, was asked by Barstool Sports if he was the king of Louisiana, he responded in the most Coach O way possible.

“I think Joe Burrow is, you just talked to the king of Louisiana”, said Orgeron just hours after leading LSU to a 42-25 win against Clemson.

Orgeron’s response shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. He’s spent much of LSU’s championship run deflecting praise from himself to his players and his coaching staff.

Now, there is one topic of discussion where Oregon didn’t deflect. When he was asked during the interview if LSU is one of the greatest college football teams of all time, he replied “I think we’re in the conversation”.

It was actually refreshing to hear Coach O say those words. Because they’re absolutely true. It’s obviously impossible to objectively determine the greatest college team of all time.

But there are several teams that are obviously in that conversation (2001 Miami and 2013 Florida State, for example). And the 2019 LSU Tigers are certainly right in the thick of that conversation (I mean, they’re only the second 15-0 team in college football history).

As for Burrow, he’s heading to the NFL. And unless there’s a wild trade, he won’t be playing in Louisiana next season.

Next. The NCAA is making some sense. dark

But in Coach O’s eyes, he’ll always be the King of Louisiana.
