Former LSU football defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was introduced as Baylor’s new head coach on Monday.

Former LSU football assistant Dave Aranda was introduced as the Baylor Bears’ new head coach on Monday and he made sure to give some love to Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron.

Aranda spent four seasons at LSU, including three full seasons as Orgeron’s defensive coordinator.

And it’s apparent that Coach O made quite an impression on Aranda.

During Aranda’s introduction ceremony he made sure to thank Orgeron and then pointed out that he learned more from Coach O than any other coach he’s been around.

That’s high praise coming from Aranda, who has worked with some successful football coaches, including Mike Leach, Art Briles (successful on the field, not so much off the field), Gary Anderson, Matt Wells and Les Miles.

Speaking of Miles, he also received some kind words from Aranda on Monday.

The former LSU defensive coordinator, who was hired by Miles in early 2016, made sure to also compliment the former Tigers head coach.

There’s no doubt that LSU is losing a good assistant in Aranda. But it’s hard to blame him for leaving the Tigers.

Aranda spent a good portion of the early part of his coaching career in Texas. And he’s long had a desire to become a head coach.

Baylor is a perfect fit for Aranda. Matt Rhule left the program in good shape, so it’s not like he’ll have to go through a massive rebuild.

dark. Next. Joe Brady thanks LSU fans

But while LSU fans are mostly happy for Aranda, they’re probably hoping he doesn’t take too many assistants with him.

LSU’s suffered enough attrition in the last week.
