A 2020 LSU football signee received a ratings bump from 247Sports on Tuesday.

2020 LSU football signee Kayshon Boutte was elevated to five-star status on Tuesday by 247Sports.

Boutte, 6-foot/180 lbs from New Iberia, LA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 5 wide receiver in the nation.

The Louisiana native put up some incredible numbers as a senior at Westgate, finishing with 47 receptions for 1,005 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed for 874 yards and 12 touchdowns.

247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks described Boutte as a player who is a “field-stretching vertical threat who provides home run-hitting ability”. Brooks added that Boutte has “the athleticism and receiver acumen that should translate to difference-maker role at the high-major level”.

With the departure of junior wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who declared for the 2020 NFL Draft after LSU won the national championship, it’s likely that Boutte will be near the top of the Tigers’ depth chart in 2020.

Ja’Marr Chase and Terrace Marshal will be LSU’s top two wide receivers. The other options aside from Boutte are Racey McMath, Trey Palmer, Jontre Kirklin, Koy Moore and Jaray Jenkins.

Palmer and McMath seem like the biggest obstacles to a starting job for Boutte, but it will be hard to keep the dynamic newcomer off the field.

LSU might have lost a stud in Jefferson, but they’re still going to have one of the best wide receiver groups in the nation.

Ed Orgeron and the Tigers just keep reloading. Folks shouldn’t sleep on LSU’s offense next season.
