LSU football picked up a big commitment on Sunday in four-star running back Kevontre Bradford.

LSU football received some good news on Sunday, picking up a commitment from four-star running back Kevontre Bradford.

The Texas native is LSU’s first running back commit in its 2020 recruiting class.

Bradford, 6-foot/190 lbs, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 21 player in the state of Texas and the No. 15 running back in the nation. He committed to LSU over Oklahoma State and Texas.

LSU was pursuing former Georgia signee Zach Evans at one point, but they decided to pivot to Bradford. That was a smart move on LSU’s part, because Evans can’t sign another NLI. That means he won’t be tied to a school until he actually enrolls.

It’s possible that Evans could commit to a school on signing day and still end up elsewhere. LSU didn’t want to end up in a situation where they didn’t land a running back in the 2020 class, so it was wise to go all in on Bradford.

In Bradford, the Tigers are getting a running back who has 4.4 speed. He’s hard to tackle and he can be elusive in space. Bradford’s size/speed combination, combined with his pass catching ability, could make him one of the more dangerous playmakers in the SEC.

This past fall, LSU wasn’t really a factor for Bradford. Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin were the biggest suitors for the dynamic running back. But the Tigers eventually identified him as a player they needed and they were able to close the deal this past weekend.
