LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow made some interesting comments on Friday on The Dan Patrick Show.

The headlines featuring Joe Burrow’s name were hard to miss on Friday.

Most of them said something along the lines of “Joe Burrow wants to play for a team focused on winning”.

That’s thanks to some comments that Burrow made on The Dan Patrick Show on Friday.

That singular quote, however, doesn’t tell the whole story.

Sure, Burrow pointed out that he wants to go to an organization focused on winning, but he also made sure to point out that just being in the conversation to go No. 1 in the 2020 NFL Draft is a huge honor.

In fact, Burrow said it was “crazy” that he’s in a position to be selected with the top pick.

The headlines would lead you to believe that Burrow has some animosity toward the Cincinnati Bengals already.

But I don’t think that’s the case at all. I think Burrow just wants to get to the NFL and win a Super Bowl — like nearly every player that enters the NFL.

And that’s really all I take away from those comments. I don’t think there’s some hidden message that Burrow is trying to get across. I definitely don’t think Burrow is on the verge of pulling an Eli Manning and refusing to play for the Bengals.

The whole video gives his comments some context.

Burrow is simply stating that he wants to compete on a team that’s willing to give him the weapons to win the Super Bowl.

Ultimately, Burrow is playing for the Bengals in 2020 (unless the Bengals trade the pick). There’s not going to be a hold out. And there’s not going to be any threats.

That’s just not who Joe Burrow is as a person.
