One of LSU football’s top 2021 recruiting priorities plans to announce his commitment this spring.

LSU football has made four-star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier one of their top priorities in the 2021 recruiting class.

Nussmeier, a 6-foot-2/185 lb pro-style quarterback, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 30 player in the state of Texas and the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in the nation.

The dynamic passer resides in Flower Mound, TX, but he was actually born in Lake Charles, LA. According to Rivals, his mother is from the Lake Charles area, so Nussmeier has deep ties to Louisiana.

Nussmeier recently told Rivals that he plans to commit by April 12 (Easter). There won’t be a list of top schools, it will just be be Nussmeier announcing his decision when he feels the time is right.

LSU has to be considered the favorite here. The Tigers were the first program to offer Nussmeier a scholarship, which should hold some weight with the four-star recruit.

If LSU is able to land Nussmeier, they’ll be getting a quarterback that can absolutely make all the throws. Nussmeier, in fact, might be a bit underrated. I wouldn’t be surprised if he flirts with five-star status by the time his senior season is finished.

As a junior, Nussmeier tossed for 3,788 yards and 38 touchdowns, against only nine interceptions.

Those are impressive numbers for a junior in Texas. And Nussmeier should only get better in 2020.

dark. Next. Honey Badger dunked on the haters

It’s impossible to win a championship in college football without an elite quarterback. It’s easy to see why LSU is making Garrett Nussmeier a priority.
