LSU football missed on one of their top remaining 2020 recruiting targets on Wednesday.

LSU football was hoping to land four-star defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson on Wednesday, but the Mississippi native opted to sign with Texas A&M instead.

Missing on Jackson is obviously disappointing for the Tigers, but LSU fans shouldn’t be too upset.

Jackson, who is rated as the No. 9 defensive tackle in the nation (247Sports composite), was also strongly considering Alabama.

The Crimson Tide were actually in a better position to land Jackson, so this a bigger blow to Alabama than it is LSU.

But the main reason LSU fans shouldn’t be too upset is because the Tigers already have a pretty stacked defensive line group in their 2020 recruiting class.

Defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy, a Baton Rouge native who signed during the early signing period, is rated as the No. 6 defensive tackle in the nation. Jacobian Guillory, who also signed during the early signing period, is rated as the No. 12 defensive tackle in the nation.

Eric Taylor, an Alabama native who is also a four-star recruit and signed during the early signing period, is a bit of an underrated recruit (No. 29 defensive tackle in the nation). Taylor could be a difference maker in Baton Rouge.

CamRon Jackson, who is expected to sign later this spring, is a three-star defensive lineman who has plenty of potential.

I think it’s safe to say that LSU is doing just fine at the defensive line position.

Which shouldn’t come as a surprise. This is an Ed Orgeron coached team after all.

It’s never fun to miss on top recruits, but LSU still has one of the top recruiting classes in the nation. The Tigers knocked it out of the park this recruiting cycle.
