LSU Football: The main thing Ed Orgeron is looking for in Joe Brady’s replacement
By Zach Ragan
Former passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Joe Brady was an important part of LSU football’s success in 2019.
LSU football has an important hire to make in the coming weeks.
Passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Joe Brady, who was instrumental in LSU’s offensive success in 2019, left the Tigers after one year to become the Carolina Panthers’ new offensive coordinator.
Earlier this week, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger was the “MVP of the whole deal” for the Tigers this past season.
But there’s no denying that Brady brought another element to LSU’s offense (spreading things out, RPO’s, etc).
Coach O is still interviewing candidates to replace Brady, but it’s clear from his comments on Wednesday that he’s looking at the hire as an opportunity to bring some fresh ideas to Baton Rouge.
Orgeron told reporters that he’s looking for a coach who can “add to our already great offense”. Coach O added that he wants someone who can “teach us something different”.
It’s apparent that Orgeron is looking to stay ahead of the curve. He knows that what LSU did last season was tremendous. But he also knows that the college football world will catch up quick.
Football is ever evolving. And Orgeron is evolving with it.
By the way, Coach O mentioned that Jorge Munoz, a former LSU analyst who was recently hired as Baylor’s wide receivers coach, could still be an option to replace Brady.
Orgeron just wants to make sure to cover all his options before making a hire.
