2021 five-star linebacker Raesjon Davis committed to LSU football on January 1.

LSU football got off to a great start in 2020 by landing a commitment from 2021 five-star linebacker Raesjon Davis.

The 6-foot-1/215 lb outside linebacker from Santa Ana, CA (Mater Dei) is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the nation and the No. 17 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

Davis told Rivals last week that part of the reason he committed was because he connected with Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron on a “personal level”. He also loves that LSU routinely sends linebackers to the NFL (which is obviously Davis’ ultimate goal).

But those aren’t the only reasons the elite linebacker made his pledge to LSU.

Davis’ former high school teammate Elias Ricks, a five-star cornerback who signed with LSU during the early signing period and enrolled in January, was a driving force in his decision to commit to the Tigers.

Davis recently told 247Sports “Elias, ever since he’s been committed, he’s been recruiting me”.

The talented linebacker added “I would definitely say he was a big part of it (the decision to commit)”.

Coach O and his staff have proved to be elite recruiters. But having highly rated players doing some recruiting of their own is never a bad thing.

It also appears that LSU has developed a bit of pipeline in California. Landing two highly rated players from the same school (Ricks eventually transferred from Mater Dei to IMG Academy in Florida) could definitely help the Tigers with their recruiting efforts there in the future.

dark. Next. No one motivates like Coach O

The Tigers are on a massive roll right now and there are no signs of them slowing down anytime soon.
