LSU football is hoping to land a commitment from 2021 five-star quarterback Caleb Williams.

One of LSU football’s top 2021 recruiting targets is five-star quarterback Caleb Williams.

And for good reason.

Williams, 6-foot-2/210 lbs from Washington DC, is one of the most highly rated players in the 2021 recruiting class.

In fact, in 247Sports’ latest recruiting rankings, he made the jump from the No. 17 overall player in the country to the No. 6 overall player in the country.

Williams also went from being the No. 1 rated dual threat quarterback in the nation to the overall top rated quarterback in the nation.

The DC native, who reportedly runs the 40 yard dash in 4.57 seconds, is described by 247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Dohn as a player who is a “natural leader” and has a “strong, accurate arm”.

Dohn also noted that Williams plays “poised and relaxed in stressful situations”, while comparing him to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Williams’ father told 247Sports in November that a few of the schools his son has visited “are not going to be able to cross the finish line and not be able to compete with LSU”. He also added that LSU “checks every box” and noted “Coach O and his staff are fabulous, we like them a lot”.

It sounds like the Tigers should be in a good position to land Williams, though he’s hardly the only quarterback LSU is pursuing.

The Tigers have also displayed a lot of interest in four-star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who has a close connection to LSU passing game coordinator Scott Linehan.

I don’t know how the 2021 recruiting cycle will play out for the Tigers, but I’d bet on Coach O and his staff landing a big time quarterback.
