Extend Joe Mixon

I know running backs have been devalued over the last 20 years, but I still believe a strong running game is essential to a successful offense in the NFL.

With back to back 1,100 yard seasons, Joe Mixon is proving to be one of the more reliable running backs in the league.

Mixon is also a threat in the passing game, totaling at least 30 receptions in each of his three years in the NFL.

The former Oklahoma running back still has one year left on his contract, but the Bengals could likely save some longterm money by extending Mixon now. If he goes off in 2020, he’ll be even more expensive after next season.

Of course, there’s always a chance he could hold out and demand a new contract if he has an insanely good year in 2020, but Cincy can cross that bridge when they get there.

Remember, this is to signal to Burrow that Cincinnati is 100 percent committed to winning.
