Colin Cowherd sounds like he has an axe to grind with former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow.

Colin Cowherd is known for his bad takes, but his latest take on LSU football’s Joe Burrow might be one of the worst I’ve ever heard.

I’m not sure what Cowherd’s problem is with Burrow, but it almost sounds personal.

Cowherd’s recent assault on Burrow centers around the young quarterback’s hand size.

I went over this the other day. There’s nothing about Burrow’s hand size that should be concerning. He had no issues slinging the ball down the field to Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase last season.

In fact, Burrow had Pro Football Focus’ highest grade on passes over 20 yards in FBS last season.

No hand issues there.

Here’s Cowherd’s full diatribe so you can judge for yourself.

There are a couple of obvious problems here.

For one, Cowherd’s Vince Young anecdote is simply inaccurate. No one was comparing Young to Tim Tebow in the 2006 NFL Draft. That’s because Tebow didn’t arrive at Florida until the fall of 2006. There’s no one on earth that was comparing the third overall pick in the draft to a high school quarterback.

Beyond that, Cowherd actually contradicts himself a decent amount here. He wants to talk about how hand size matters, then adds that college productivity and coachability matters as well.

“It’s remarkable to me when we dismiss stuff that matters. It all matters.”

Cowherd is right — it all matters.

Burrow’s incredible leadership matters. His insane college productivity matters. His confidence matters. His attitude matters.

Cowherd essentially offered his own rebuttal to his silly argument that Burrow isn’t a great prospect (despite every available analytic suggesting otherwise).

Next. High praise for LSU CB from elite WR. dark

Cowherd is just looking for some attention. I guess his ploy worked, because here I am writing about his awful take.

But I had no choice. His comments on Burrow were just too bad to ignore.
