LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson showed off his speed at the NFL combine.

LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson has widely been considered a second round pick in recent mock drafts.

It doesn’t make a bit of sense.

Jefferson was incredibly productive in 2019 at LSU. He has tremendous hands and he excels at catching the ball in traffic. The Louisiana native is also a capable blocker.

The one thing that draft pundits have said Jefferson is missing?

Elite speed.

Well, they can’t say that anymore after Thursday.

Jefferson ran a 4.44 in the 40 yard dash at the draft combine on Thursday.

Looks like the lack of speed thing doesn’t apply to Jefferson anymore (though it never made sense anyway, if you actually watched him play).

I know everyone loves Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb, and rightfully so, but Jefferson might be the best all around wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jefferson can do everything. He can move the chains, go over the middle, extend the field vertically and provide a team with a reliable red zone target. That’s everything a team could want in a No. 1 wide receiver.

A couple of weeks ago, I thought it would be a great story if the New Orleans Saints “reached” for Jefferson in the first round of the draft and took him with the No. 24 overall pick.

But after his performance on Thursday at the combine, I’m not so sure Jefferson will still be available when the Saints’ pick rolls around.

Next. Damian Lewis has the mindset to be dominant in the NFL. dark

Whoever lands Jefferson will be getting a game changing wide receiver that should provide production for years to come.
