LSU Football: 4-star DT is high on the Tigers early in his recruitment
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is showing early interest in a four-star defensive tackle from New Orleans.
LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron is determined to keep elite talent from Louisiana from leaving the state.
One way that Coach O and the Tigers staff can do that is by jumping on talented players early in their recruitment.
And that’s exactly what they’re doing with 2022 four-star defensive tackle Tygee Hill, 6-foot-3/270 lbs from New Orleans.
Hill is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 1 defensive tackle in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 36 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class.
Suffice it to say, Hill is player the Tigers absolutely want in Baton Rouge.
Last week, LSU extended an offer to Hill. After receiving the offer, Hill told Rivals “It will change how I look at LSU because that might be the place I carry on my career after high school for 3-4 years.”
247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks describes Hill as a “strong bull-rusher” who is “raw technically but possesses great tools as a high-major defensive line prospect”. Brooks suggests that Hill will become a Power-5 starter and a potential NFL Draft prospect.
There’s obviously a long way to go in Hill’s recruitment, but I think it’s clear that LSU will be favorites to land the elite defensive lineman. Swiping a player out of New Orleans is nearly impossible for rival programs, and I expect that Orgeron will continue to make Hill a top priority.
LSU currently has three players committed to their 2022 recruiting class.
