LSU Football: Joe Burrow doesn’t welcome comparisons to elite QBs

LSU football’s Joe Burrow is expected to be the top selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.
LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow might have the most swagger of anyone in the 2020 NFL Draft.
But that doesn’t mean Burrow welcomes comparisons to elite quarterbacks.
Over the last few months, Burrow has received plenty of comparisons to future hall of fame quarterback Tom Brady.
And he wants no part of it.
To be fair, Burrow recognizes and appreciates the high praise. He’d just rather create his own path — his own legacy.
The NFL Network told #LSU QB Joe Burrow that some are comparing him to Tom Brady.

He just laughed.
"Please don't compare me to the best player of all time. Let me do my own thing. Don't do that to me. Please."
NFL Network: But it's high praise.
"It is. But it's Tom Brady."
This is a perfect response from Burrow for a couple of reasons.
For one, it shows the confidence he has in himself to become a quarterback that doesn’t require comparisons.
It also shows that despite Burrow’s extremely high level of confidence and belief in himself, he’s not arrogant. Burrow respects the game. He respects legends. And he knows he hasn’t proved anything yet at the next level.
I think Burrow has the potential to be a great player in the NFL. He might even become a perennial Pro-Bowler that brings a championship to a franchise (the Bengals?).
But comparing him to Brady?
That’s probably a bit much for a player who has never played a down in the NFL.
It’s just not fair for a young player trying to find his own way. Let him be Joe Burrow. Let him create his own legacy.

Burrow has what it takes to be great. He doesn’t need to be compared to anyone. He just needs to focus on being the best version of himself.
