LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron discussed quarterback Myles Brennan on Wednesday.

LSU football will be relying on quarterback Myles Brennan to lead the team back to the promised land in 2020.

The Tigers struck gold when they landed Joe Burrow as a grad transfer before the 2018 season.

Burrow proved to be one of the best college quarterbacks of all time in 2019, which ultimately led to a perfect 15-0 season and a national championship title for the Tigers.

With Burrow off to the NFL, it means it’s Brennan’s turn to lead LSU’s offense.

And Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron is excited for Brennan to get his shot.

While previewing LSU’s spring practice on Wednesday, Coach O told reporters that he expects Brennan to “explode” in 2020. Orgeron also said he thinks Brennan is going to be “one heck of a player”.

Unfortunately for Brennan, who will be a redshirt junior in 2020, the emergence of Burrow as a superstar in 2019 will likely lead to a lot of unfair comparisons for the Tigers’ new starting quarterback.

Even if Brennan plays amazing, he almost certainly won’t reach Burrow’s outstanding numbers from last season.

It’s possible that Brennan could throw for over 4,000 yards and 30-40 touchdowns, which would be an incredible season, but it would fall way short of what Burrow was able to accomplish in 2019.

Hopefully if that happens, fans and media will be able to separate Brennan from Burrow. The comparisons are inevitable, but Brennan needs to be treated (and covered by the media) as if 2019 never happened.

Myles Brennan just needs to worry about being the best Myles Brennan he can be. The rest will take care of itself.

Coach O believes in him. And if anyone knows what a good quarterback at LSU looks like, it’s the guy who just coached the greatest one ever.
