Damone Clark — Linebacker

LSU didn’t just lose a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball to the NFL draft, they also lost plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Inside linebackers Patrick Queen and Jacob Phillips will be playing on Sundays this fall, which means there’s a huge opportunity for Damone Clark — the sixth leading tackler for the Tigers in 2019.

Clark is projected to slide into the role of the “mike” linebacker in new defensive coordinator Bo Pelini’s 4-3 defense.

That means he’ll essentially be the quarterback of the defense on the field. He’ll be the guy making the calls, which is an incredibly important job. In fact, it’s even more important with LSU switching from a 3-4 base defense to a 4-3 base defense.

The Baton Rouge native, who will be a junior in 2020, has a chance to become a star in his own right this upcoming season.
