LSU Football: 2021 recruiting target impresses at Rivals Camp in New Orleans
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is hoping to land a commitment from an elite 2021 four-star wide receiver.
2021 four-star wide receiver Destyn Pazon is a player LSU football would love to sign during the next recruiting cycle.
Pazon, 6-foot/170 lbs from New Orleans, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 6 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 22 wide receiver in the nation.
The dynamic wide receiver recently impressed recruiting analysts at the Rivals Camp in New Orleans, as he reportedly “turned heads” during workouts.
Pazon, who runs crisp routes and plays much bigger than his listed 6-foot height, is being heavily pursued by the Tigers.
But LSU isn’t the only big time program in the mix.
In fact, Florida State could be a major threat to steal the elite wide receiver from the Tigers.
Rivals recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman is predicting the Seminoles will land the Louisiana native.
Spiegelman cited Pazon’s close relationship with Florida State assistant coach David Johnson as one of the factors that could lead the talented wideout to Tallahassee.
Johnson is also a New Orleans native, so it makes sense that the two have made a strong connection.
Of course, you certainly can’t count LSU out just yet. The Tigers are one of the premier programs in the country right now. And wide receivers are excelling in Baton Rouge. If Pazon has his sights set on the NFL — and I would assume that he does — there probably isn’t a better place for him to land than LSU.
At the end of the day, it’s awfully tough for programs to pull elite players out of the state of Louisiana. Pazon might be flirting with Florida State right now, but I’d be surprised if he eschewed the Tigers for the ‘Noles.
