LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron has went through a lot of emotions during his time in Baton Rouge.

When Ed Orgeron was hired as LSU football’s defensive line coach in early 2015, he probably didn’t think he’d lead the Tigers to a win in the national championship game five years later.

But that’s exactly what happened. And the events that unfolded in that five year period to lead Orgeron and LSU to that point have been pretty amazing.

It took a perfect storm for Coach O to get to where he is today (which is among the highest paid coaches in the nation). From failing at Ole Miss, to spending a year on Rocky Top and then heading back west to USC, it’s all been an important part of Orgeron’s journey to the top of college football.

When Orgeron didn’t get the head coaching job at USC in late 2013, after serving as the interim head coach, it devastated him. Orgeron didn’t coach anywhere in 2014.

With his career as a crossroads, Coach O returned to his home state to accept a position under Les Miles at LSU.

And what happened in the following years turned out to benefit the Tigers in ways that no one could’ve ever imagined.

Here are the five most pivotal moments in Orgeron’s career at LSU.
