LSU loses to Troy

After going 6-2 as LSU’s interim head coach in 2016, Coach O got to work in 2017 as the full time head coach.

And his tenure got off to a rocky start.

The Tigers started the season ranked No. 13. By October, LSU was out of the top 25.

That’s mostly because of the Tigers’ loss to Troy on September 30.

LSU’s matchup against Troy, a night game in Tiger Stadium, was suppose to an easy win for Orgeron and his team.

Instead, it was a crushing loss for LSU that immediately had folks wondering if the program had made the right move by hiring Orgeron.

This was absolutely a pivotal moment for Orgeron and LSU. The Tigers were 2-3 and had just lost to a team they should’ve beat. With a schedule full of SEC games the rest of the way, things could’ve easily went even further south.

But LSU rallied to finish the regular season with a 9-3 record. They lost their bowl game to Notre Dame, but Orgeron’s ability to keep the team fighting provided plenty of reason for optimism.
