LSU Football: 2021 4-star WR would be a tremendous pickup for the Tigers
By Zach Ragan
Despite the shutdown across sports, LSU football is still working to build its 2021 recruiting class.
LSU football finished the 2020 recruiting cycle with the No. 4 ranked class in the nation.
And it appears they could be in line for another top five finish with their 2021 recruiting class.
The Tigers currently have four commits to their 2021 recruiting class, but they’re in the mix for several top prospects.
One of those players is 2021 four-star wide receiver Jacorey Brooks, 6-foot-3/185 lbs from Miami, FL.
Brooks is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 player in the state of Florida and the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation. In addition to his offer from LSU, Brooks also holds notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami and Texas A&M.
Rivals recently said that Brooks is a “long way from a decision”, but suggested that Miami is the current favorite to land the stud wide receiver. They also noted, however, that Alabama and LSU are “lurking”.
This is certainly a player the Tigers should want to land.
Brooks is described by 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivens as a “natural pass catcher with good balance”. Ivens also says that Brooks “has the ability to not only win balls in the air, but also turn short routes into long gains”.
Brooks caught 99 passes for 1,281 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior at Booker T. Washington.
Ivens compared Brooks to Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton, who was a second round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after starring at SMU.
LSU has essentially turned into WRU over the last decades. There’s not a better place for top wide receivers to go. The Tigers have proved they can consistently send wideouts to the NFL.
