LSU football in top 8 for 4-star cornerback from California
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is among the top schools for a four-star cornerback from California.
2021 four-star cornerback DJ Harvey tweeted his top eight schools this week and LSU football made the cut.
Harvey, 5-foot-10/166 lbs from Chatsworth, CA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 19 player in the state of California and the No. 15 cornerback in the nation.
Joining LSU in Harvey’s top eight schools are Arizona State, California, Oregon, Kansas, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and USC.
(Harvey called his top eight “unofficial”.)
It’s unclear exactly where LSU stands with Harvey. Though the Tigers are pretty much a factor for every player they offer at this point. That’s the luxury of being the national champions and the owners of a 15-0 record in 2019.
However, it could be tough to pull Harvey away from the west coast. The California native has notable interest in Oregon. Back in the fall, Harvey told Rivals “the Ducks are high on my list to be honest”. He added “they are a great program and have a great education system”.
Harvey is definitely a player worth putting in some effort for, though. 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins says Harvey “flashes explosive ability on both sides of the ball”. Biggins also noted that Harvey is “a physical corner who plays bigger then his size” and “has very good balance, change of direction and ball awareness”.
There will be a lot of action in Harvey’s recruitment once things get back to normal after the coronavirus outbreak subsides.
The Tigers currently have five players committed to their 2021 recruiting class.
