LSU football is hoping to be one of the teams in the mix for an elite 2021 cornerback.

2021 four-star cornerback Isaiah Johnson is one of LSU football’s top recruiting targets.

Johnson, 6-foot-2/180 lbs, is an Atlanta native who currently plays at Bluefield High School in West Virginia. Johnson is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Wet Virginia and the No. 5 cornerback in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 65 overall 2021 player in the nation.

Numerous programs are strongly in the mix for Johnson. The dynamic cornerback recently told 247Sports that he speaks the most with Georgia, LSU, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Johnson hasn’t visited Baton Rouge yet, but he’s hoping to make the trip to Louisiana once the coronavirus outbreak passes.

The Atlanta native told 247Sports “LSU, for one. I definitely want to get out there…..It’s a Top 10 program. I can’t say anything (bad) about it. It’s DBU.”

Johnson was planning to visit LSU in April, but that likely won’t happen thanks to ongoing self-distancing measures in response to the coronavirus.

As for Johnson’s abilities as a football player?

Well, it’s easy to see why the Tigers are highly interested in the four-star defensive back.

Johnson reportedly runs a 4.52 in the 40 yard dash. And his vertical leap has been recorded at 38 inches, so it’s clear Johnson has plenty of speed and athleticism (along with ideal height for a cornerback in the SEC).

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn describes Johnson as a player with “loose hips” who “transitions easily to turn and run with receiver”. Dohn also noted that Johnson is a “willing tackler” and can “impact a high-level program immediately”.
