LSU football in top 10 for elite in-state athlete

LSU football is among the top 10 schools for an elite in-state athlete.
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that LSU football is among the top 10 schools for an elite athlete from Louisiana.
Sage Ryan, 5-foot-11/193 lbs from Lafayette, LA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 39 overall player in the nation.
Ryan tweeted his top 10 schools on Monday afternoon.
The Louisiana native has an interesting connection to LSU. Ryan is the cousin of Tigers running back coach Kevin Faulk.
Ryan told Rivals in January that LSU has been “showing a lot of love, making this whole process a lot easier”. The dynamic athlete noted “they (LSU) check on me, but they’re not all up on my butt…they call me every now and then”.
Rivals suggested that LSU is the team to beat for Ryan, which wouldn’t be a surprise. His connection to Faulk, plus the fact that he’s from Louisiana, makes it feel like Ryan should be a lock for the Tigers.
Clemson, however, is making a strong push for Ryan. I’m sure he’ll keep his options open throughout the recruiting process, but I’d be shocked to see him end up anywhere but Baton Rouge.
LSU currently has five players committed to their 2021 recruiting class.
