Former LSU football linebacker Patrick Queen is expected to be a high draft selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller predicted this week in his latest mock draft that LSU football’s Patrick Queen will land in a perfect situation in the NFL.

Miller predicts the Kansas City Chiefs will select Queen in the No. 32 overall pick.

This would be a tremendous landing spot for Queen. And it would be a great pick by the Chiefs.

Kansas City currently has Anthony Hitchens, Damien Wilson and Ben Niemann penciled in at the linebacker spots. That trio played well at times last year, but they lack speed. And Wilson and Niemann are scheduled to be free agents after the 2020 season.

Not only would Queen provide the Chiefs some insurance in the event they lose one or two of their linebackers to free agency, he’d also provide some immediate competition for Kansas City.

In fact, I think Queen is talented enough that he could start from day one for the Chiefs (assuming he gets a full training camp, depending on what happens with the coronavirus outbreak).

Queen is fast, physical and smart. He only started for one full year at LSU, which I think makes him one of the more underrated players in the draft. I think he has the talent to be selected in the first half of the first round, but his lack of starting experience will likely prevent that from happening.

NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein says Queen’s “ability to diagnose and flow are both very rapid”, while noting that he “operates with excellent body control”. Zierlein also says Queen is “an early starter with a sky-high ceiling”.

If Queen falls to the Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions will be getting a steal. And Queen will end up in a situation where he can shine.

And LSU fans would get to see Queen line up with former Tigers standout Tyrann Mathieu.

It doesn’t get much better than that.
