LSU football in the mix to land elite 5-star offensive lineman

LSU football is one of many programs pursuing 2021 five-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh.

Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Friedman believes that Clemson is the team to beat for 2021 five-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh, but LSU football is also a threat to land the Virginia native.

Leigh, 6-foot-5/275 lbs from Fairfax, VA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2021 recruiting class and the No. 15 overall player in the nation.

Friedman called Clemson the leader for Lee, while also noting that Penn State, Ohio State and Virginia are expected to be factors for the elite offensive lineman.

As for where LSU stands with Leigh?

Friedman said “the momentum of an unbelievable season has really helped LSU with Leigh”, adding that Leigh “was on campus this past season and loved what he saw”.

Earlier this year, Leigh participated in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio and impressed talent evaluators. After his performance in the All-American Bowl, Rivals said “If we were ranking performances just from Friday, Leigh very well may have been the best overall offensive lineman in attendance”.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn says Leigh has a “very high ceiling” and is “physical and finishes plays”. Dohn suggests that Leigh will be a multi-year starter at an elite program and has first round NFL draft potential.

Leigh sounds like a player that could anchor an offensive line at the collegiate level for several years.

I expect this to be a tough recruiting battle over the next several months. Clemson might be leading right now, but one visit can change everything. If Leigh gets more comfortable with Ed Orgeron and his staff, it’s very possible that LSU surges to the front of this recruitment.

There’s a long way to go, however, until Leigh puts pen to paper. A lot can (and likely will) change between now and then.

But I’ve learned to never count out Coach O and the Tigers for any recruit. The defending champions are a threat to land nearly every player they strongly pursue.
