LSU football is among the top 10 schools for one of the nation’s top rated offensive linemen.

2021 five-star offensive lineman Amarius Mims included LSU football in his top 10 schools on Wednesday.

Mims, 6-foot-7/315 lbs from Cochran, GA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 8 overall player in the nation.

Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee were the other nine schools in Mims’ top 10.

The elite offensive tackle released his top 14 last fall. North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas A&M and USC were the teams he eliminated on Wednesday.

Rivals pointed out last month that Mims is high on LSU because of two reasons: the Tigers’ recent success and the amount of players the program has lost to the NFL (possible early opportunity for playing time).

However, Georgia might be the team to beat for Mims. Rivals recently suggested that this battle could down between Alabama and Georgia, and they believe the Bulldogs will be the school that Mims ultimately chooses.

Mims isn’t expected to commit until October 14, so LSU still has plenty of time to work some magic and sway the talented offensive lineman to Baton Rouge.

247Sports national writer Charles Power says Mims “possesses an elite combination of size and length for an offensive tackle”. Power also says that Mims “looks as good as you could hope for at this stage for an offensive tackle prospect”, adding that the Georgia native has “the ultimate upside of developing into a multi-year starter at the Power 5 level and eventual high NFL Draft pick”.

The Tigers currently have five players committed to their 2021 recruiting class. They’ve yet to land a commitment from an offensive lineman, which could certainly make them a more attractive destination for Mims.
