LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron is elite in all aspects of being a head coach.

LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron isn’t just an elite head coach — he’s an elite person, too.

There aren’t many coaches in college football who have been through more than Coach O.

Orgeron had his share of off-the-field issues early in his career, which resulted in a leave of absence from Miami (where he was serving as the Hurricanes’ defensive line coach) in 1992. Coach O was out of coaching altogether in 1993.

The Louisiana native returned to coaching in 1994, and eventually worked his way into a head coaching gig with Ole Miss. Orgeron was the Rebels’ head coach from 2005-07, before he was fired.

Orgeron was knocked down the coaching ladder again after getting fired from Ole Miss and was forced to work his way back to the top. Which he did. Coach O was eventually named the interim head coach at USC. After he didn’t get the full-time job, he landed at LSU and was named the Tigers’ full-time head coach after Les Miles was fired in 2016.

All of that adversity has led to Orgeron being the man he is today. He’s more than a coach — he’s a man who cares about everyone involved in LSU’s football program.

From the assistants, to the secretary to the custodians — Coach O treats them all with respect.

Tigers strength coach Tommy Moffitt recently talked to WAFB’s Jacques Doucet about Orgeron’s work ethic and the way he treats everyone associated with the Tigers.

I find this to be incredible. A great football program is more than just a great head coach. A football program can’t be great unless everyone associated with the program is “all in”.

Folks tend to be more invested in their job when they feel like they’re appreciated.

And it’s clear that Orgeron appreciates every single person involved with LSU football.
