Former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow is widely expected to be the top selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Nearly everyone that covers the NFL expects the Cincinnati Bengals to take former LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow with the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

But there’s at least on analyst that thinks otherwise.

Three time Pro-Bowl defensive back DeAngelo Hall, who now works as an in-studio analyst for NFL Network, recently said (via 247Sports) that he thinks the Bengals should pass on Burrow.

Hall said he thinks Cincinnati needs to take a quarterback with the first pick, but he thinks the long-suffering franchise should take Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa instead of Burrow.

The reasoning?

Hall points to the fact that Burrow lost a quarterback battle to Dwayne Haskins at Ohio State as the reason the Bengals should pass on Burrow.

“Tua brings so many dimensions to an offense and his style would fit well with the weapons around him”, said Hall when discussing what Cincinnati should do with the first overall pick.

There’s no doubt that Tua is an incredibly gifted quarterback. And before his hip injury last season, he was the presumed top pick in the 2020 draft. But the emergence of Burrow, combined with the injury history of Tua, makes it a no brainer what the Bengals should do.

They absolutely have to take Burrow.

Now, if for whatever reason Cincinnati wanted to entertain Hall’s idea, then perhaps they could take advantage of a Miami Dolphins team that desperately wants to move up in the draft so they can land Burrow. The Bengals could net plenty of draft capital in a deal with Miami.

But I’m not sold that it would be worth it. I know Tua says he’s healthy right now, but he has enough injury history that taking him with the first pick would be way too big of a risk.
