4-star QB from Georgia has strong connection to LSU football

LSU football is one of many schools in pursuit of 2022 four-star quarterback MJ Morris.
LSU football recently extended a scholarship offer to 2022 four-star quarterback MJ Morris, 6-foot-1/175 lbs from Carrollton, GA.
Morris, who also has offers from Auburn, Georgia, Michigan and Tennessee, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 2 dual threat quarterback in the nation. 247Sports also rated Morris as the No. 41 overall 2022 recruit in the nation.
The Georgia native describes himself as a “dual threat quarterback that delivers the ball down the field with efficiency”.
Morris recently told Rivals that he was a fan of LSU’s offense, saying “I would love to be in an offense as explosive as that”.
The dynamic quarterback added “I definitely want to try and make a trip to Baton Rouge and see what they are all about. I have friends over there and want to see it for myself how great of a campus they have.”
One of those friends is five-star tight end Arik Gilbert, who signed with LSU during the 2020 recruiting cycle.
Morris said he works out with Gilbert from time to time. According to Morris, Gilbert talks “very highly about the school and the university”.
LSU is casting a wide net when it comes to quarterbacks. The Tigers would like to sign two quarterbacks in the 2021 recruiting class, with Caleb Williams and Garrett Nussmeier standing out as LSU’s top two targets.
In the 2022 class, the Tigers appear be strongly pursuing Morris as well as Walker Howard (an LSU legacy from Lafayette, LA).
Elite quarterbacks are few and far between, so it makes sense to try to sign as many as possible. At that point, the depth chart will work itself out and the transfer portal will take care of the rest.
