LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron credited Tigers fans with helping his team get a key win in 2019.

LSU football fans are partially responsible for the Tigers’ incredible 15-0 season in 2019.

At least that’s what LSU head coach Ed Orgeron believes.

Coach O recently told WAFB’s Jacques Doucet that Tigers fans helped immensely in a key October matchup against the Florida Gators.

Orgeron told Doucet “I think the crowd won that game for us, that was one of the most electric crowds that I’ve ever been in”.

LSU’s head coach added “If we would’ve played on the road, I don’t know what would’ve happened. They had the tight end they flexed out, we could not cover him.”

When LSU and Florida met last season, both programs were undefeated. The Gators, who were ranked No. 7, were coming off a huge win against a top 10 Auburn program. The Tigers, ranked No. 5 at the time, had defeated a top 10 Texas team earlier in the season.

This matchup was a key moment in the SEC East and SEC West division title races.

At halftime, the game was tied at 21. Florida took a 28-21 lead in the second half, one of the few times LSU faced a deficit in 2019. But the Tigers were able to outscore the Gators 21-0 the rest of the way to earn their second conference win of the season.

Florida actually had a chance to tie the game in the fourth quarterback, but a Derrick Stingley Jr interception ended those hopes. It was one of the top moments of the season for the dynamic true freshman defensive back.

LSU fans always deliver. And it’s clear they delivered on that October night in Baton Rouge. Without the fans that night, maybe Florida wins the game. And then who knows what happens the rest of the way.

Fortunately, that was a road the Tigers didn’t have to go down.
