LSU football is one of 10 programs standing out for four-star athlete Denzel Burke.

2021 four-star athlete Denzel Burke reveled his top 10 schools on Sunday and he included LSU football.

Burke, 6-foot/189 lbs from Scottsdale, AZ (Saguaro), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 player in the state of Arizona and the No. 9 athlete in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 180 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

Along with LSU, Burke also included Arizona State, Auburn, Colorado, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, USC and Washington among his top schools.

It appears that Burke is mostly focusing on schools from the west coast.

For now, it’s unclear how hard the Tigers are actually pursuing Burke. LSU is in a position where they can be a choosy when it comes to defensive backs (Burke will most likely play at cornerback at the next level).

Burke is described by 247Sports mountain region recruiting analyst Blair Angulo as a player who is “decent in coverage as a defender with fluidity to stick to wideouts”. Angulo also notes that Burke “must improve physicality and durability”.

According to 247Sports, Burke runs a 4.72 in the 40 yard dash (timed at The Opening in February). That time is a bit slower than what LSU typically looks for in a defensive back.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Burke included the Tigers in his top 10 just to make his list look a bit more impressive.

But then again, this is recruiting we’re talking about. It’s certainly possible that Ed Orgeron and his staff see something special in Burke.
