LSU football is one of the programs expected to be a factor for a four-star defensive back from Texas.

LSU football is going to be a major factor for 2021 four-star defensive back Latrell McCutchin, according to Rivals recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman.

Spiegelman recently “ranked the contenders” for McCutchin and he has LSU as the third most likely team to land the Texas native, behind Oklahoma and Alabama.

“Expect the school (LSU) with the rich history of defensive backs to go after one of the country’s best”, said Spiegelman.

McCutchin, 6-foot-1/176 lbs from Austin, TX (LBJ), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 14 player in the state of Texas and the No. 10 cornerback in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 98 overall 2021 recruit.

The dynamic defensive back actually committed to Alabama last summer, but he rescinded that commitment back in March.

(LSU offered McCutchin shortly after he committed to Alabama.)

It certainly appears that McCutchin’s recruitment is about to heat up in a big way.

And for good reason — McCutchin is the type of player that could make a big impact for a Power-5 school.

247Sports midlands region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks describes McCutchin as a player who is “not afraid of contact and willing to come downhill against the run and screen game”. Brooks also says that McCutchin is “disruptive at the catch point and uses length to his advantage”.

Brooks compared McCutchin to Miami Dolphins cornerback Cordrea Tankersley, a former four-star recruit who played at Clemson.

According to Rivals, McCutchin doesn’t have a timeline for his decision.

Considering LSU’s historical success with defensive backs, I could definitely see the four-star cornerback landing in Baton Rouge.
