LSU football strongly in the mix for 4-star linebacker from Maryland

LSU football is a team to watch for 2021 four-star linebacker Aaron Willis.

Four-star outside linebacker Aaron Willis is one of the mostly highly sought after players in the 2021 recruiting class, and LSU football is in the mix to land him.

Willis, 6-foot/200 lbs from Baltimore, MD (St Frances Academy), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 player in the state of Maryland and the No. 9 outside linebacker in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 110 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

The Maryland native, who was committed to Virginia Tech at one point, is being pursued by programs like Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Tennessee and Texas, as well as LSU.

Rivals national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman recently “ranked the contenders” for Willis and he has the Crimson Tide as the most likely program to land the talented linebacker.

But LSU isn’t too far behind, according to Friedman.

“Ed Orgeron and his staff left a lasting impression on Willis when he visited and he still talks about that trip a lot”, said Friedman.

The Rivals analyst also noted that LSU’s strong reputation of developing linebackers “caught the eye” of Willis.

LSU could have four linebackers selected in the 2020 NFL Draft (K’Lavon Chaisson, Patrick Queen, Michael Divinity and Jacob Phillips), which could make the Tigers an even more attractive option for Willis.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn describes Willis as a player with “quick feet and ability to change direction in coverage” and “excellent instincts”. Dohn also says Willis “moves well laterally” and is a “good tackler with body control”.

Willis told Rivals that he was planning to commit before the 2020 season, but he could wait until after the start of the season so he’s able to take more visits before making his decision.
