LSU Football: 2021 4-star DL explains why he’s interested in Tigers
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is one of many teams pursuing 2021 four-star defensive lineman Aaron Armitage.
2021 four-star defensive lineman Aaron Armitage, who is originally from Canada, is one of the top rated players in the northeast and LSU football had made him an important recruiting target.
Armitage, 6-foot-4/242 lbs out of Blairstown, NJ (Blair Academy), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey and the No. 16 strong-side defensive end in the nation.
The Ontario native recently announced his top five schools, which included Florida, LSU, Oregon, Stanford and USC.
Armitage discussed his recruitment with 247Sports and explained what he loves the most about the Tigers.
“National championship is what I think about them”, said Armitage when mentioning LSU.
“Coach O is a defensive line coach. He focused a lot on the defensive line and they had 16 guys go to the combine last year, so they are obviously developing guys to go to the next level and that is my dream.”
The championship win against Clemson and the load of talent heading to the NFL isn’t the only thing that interests Armitage about LSU. He’s also eager to try the food in Louisiana.
“It’s in Louisiana and I know there is a lot of good food down there, too. I’d like to make it out there and see what it is all about.”
For now, it’s unclear when visits to college campuses will be allowed to resumed. The hope is that sometime this summer the recruiting shutdown will be lifted, but it’s completely dependent on the status of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
It certainly sounds like LSU will be a strong option for Armitage, who is described by 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn as a player who is “athletic with burst”.
The Tigers currently have five players committed to their 2021 recruiting class.
