LSU football is one of the teams to beat for an elite 2021 wide receiver.

LSU football has emerged as one of favorites to land 2021 four-star wide receiver Brian Thomas.

Rivals recently “ranked the contenders” for Thomas and they have it coming down to Alabama and LSU.

Thomas, 6-foot-4/185 lbs from Walker, LA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 3 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation. They also rate Thomas as the No. 43 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

Rivals noted that Thomas is teammates with Tigers signee Jalen Cook, which they said “looms very large in Thomas’ eventual decision”. Rivals also noted that LSU has made Thomas, who lives just outside of Baton Rouge, a top recruiting priority.

That isn’t at all surprising. Ed Orgeron loves making players from Louisiana a priority.

Plus there’s the fact that Thomas has the potential be one of the top wide receivers in the SEC.

247Sports national writer Charles Power says Thomas “runs well with the ability to separate within the route with quickness and change of direction”. Power also says Thomas “shows the ability to open up his stride once in the open field and can pull away from defensive backs for long gains”, while comparing the four-star recruit to New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (you know, the guy who just set the record for most receptions in an NFL season…..pretty good player to be compared to if you ask me).

Next. Will Ed Orgeron pursue USC QB JT Daniels. dark

LSU currently has six players committed to their 2021 recruiting class, including four-star wide receiver JoJo Earle and four-star wide receiver Deion Smith.
