LSU Football: How Joe Burrow spent NFL draft morning
By Zach Ragan
LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow is set to be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
LSU football quarterback Joe Burrow is about to experience the biggest thrill of his life on Thursday night.
Burrow, barring something completely unexpected, is going to be the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
So how did the soon-to-be very rich quarterback spend draft morning?
Probably not how you’d expect.
Burrow, clad in a Super Mario sweatshirt and black sweatpants, joined his mom, an elementary school teacher, in the pledge of allegiance with his mom’s class (virtually, of course).
Burrow has been described by friends as a video game playing hermit that is likely thriving in coronavirus quarantine.
It’s hilarious to me that Burrow, possibly the greatest college quarterback ever, has such a quirky personality. He’s just…different.
But that’s a good thing. It’s not unusual for great players to be a bit different. And it’s pretty clear that Burrow is going to be a great player in the NFL. Most draft analysts feel like Burrow is the first “can’t miss quarterback prospect” since Andrew Luck in 2012.
The Cincinnati Bengals, the team with the first overall pick in the draft on Thursday night, should be over the moon right now. Burrow is the type of player that can turn the Bengals franchise from a punchline to a headline grabber.
And if you think the Bengals have thought about trading the first overall pick, well, they haven’t. The Miami Dolphins tried desperately this week to make a deal with the Bengals and it was a no go.
Not even three first round picks (which the Dolphins have) could convince the Bengals to pass on Burrow.
Wise move, Cincy.
