LSU football appears to be destined to have the NFL offensive rookie of the year in 2020.

It shouldn’t come as any surprise that LSU football’s Joe Burrow is the favorite to win the NFL offensive rookie of the year award in 2020.

According to ESPN, Caesars Sportsbook has Burrow, the top selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, as the favorite to win the award at 3 to 1 odds.

With the recent release of Andy Dalton, Burrow is already entrenched as the Cincinnati Bengals’ starting quarterback.

Of course, the Bengals aren’t a very good team. And their performance (specifically the offensive line), could hinder Burrow’s ability to win the award.

But if it’s not Burrow that wins the offensive rookie of the year award, it will likely be another LSU player.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who was selected with the final pick of the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs, has the second best odds to win the award.

Caesar Sportsbook has Edwards-Helaire at 11-2.

That’s probably not a bad bet. As ESPN points out, running backs are typically more likely to win the award (though several quarterbacks have won it in recent years, including last year when Kyler Murray won it).

Edwards-Helaire landed in a perfect spot in the NFL. He’s essentially a perfect fit in Andy Reid’s offense. Reid has always loved versatile running backs (Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy for example) and Edwards-Helaire is that type of player. He’ll be especially dangerous in the passing game (and Patrick Mahomes is his quarterback, so you know Edwards-Helaire will have great opportunities).

If I was forced to bet, I’d probably still bet on Burrow. He’s the center of the Bengals’ offense. In Kansas City, there are a lot of other players that Edwards-Helaire will share the ball with.

Next. The trade the Bengals should make to help Joe Burrow. dark

But if the Bengals falter, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Edwards-Helaire sneak in and steal the award from his former teammate.
