2021 three-star safety Dakota Mitchell committed to LSU football in March.

2021 three-star safety Dakota Mitchell has been committed to LSU football for less than two months, but he already oozes pride for the Tigers.

Mitchell recently told 247Sports “I wake up every day feeling great to be a Tiger. Nobody really understands the joy and feeling of being (an LSU commit).”

The Florida native added “We [are] cooking something up special, once again. I feel like we’ll have the best class coming towards January when signing day comes.”

He’s probably right. The Tigers’ 2021 recruiting class is ranked No. 10 in the nation right now with only nine players committed. LSU will be likely be adding more highly rated commits in the coming months, which will send the Tigers up the recruiting rankings.

Mitchell is doing his part to make sure LSU lands those highly rated commits, telling 247Sports that he’s working hard to help the Tigers recruit top prospects like Bryce Langston and Kamren Kinchens.

Of course, it’s not like LSU’s staff needs too much help recruiting (though it doesn’t hurt). Ed Orgeron is one of the best recruiting head coaches in the nation. His recruiting prowess combined with the Tigers’ recent national championship, makes LSU one of the most desirable college football programs in the country for top recruits.

As for Mitchell, he’s an extremely athletic defensive back who can play on either side of the ball. But most programs, including LSU, have recruited him as a safety. However, that could always change once he gets on campus and the Tigers’ staff gets a look at him in practice.

Next. Bo Pelini and Dave Aranda have different recruiting approaches. dark

Mitchell, 6-foot/184 lbs from Winter Park, FL (Winter Park), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 49 player in the state of Florida and the No. 28 safety in the nation.
