LSU football in top 6 for fast rising offensive lineman
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is in the top six for one of the top offensive linemen in the nation.
2021 four-star offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild revealed his top six schools on Friday and LSU football made the cut.
Auburn, Georgia, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee are the other teams in Fairchild’s top six.
Fairchild, 6-foot-5/298 lbs from Cumming, GA (West Forsyth), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 2 offensive guard in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 42 overall recruit in the nation.
You probably noticed I described Fairchild as “fast rising” in the title of this article. That’s because on Rivals, Fairchild is still rated as a three-star offensive lineman (No. 49 player in the state). But he’ll obviously receive a ratings bump when Rivals updates their rankings.
So who is at the top for Fairchild?
For now, it appears that Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee might be the frontrunners for the elite offensive lineman.
But LSU is right there in the mix (as they pretty much are with every recruit they pursue).
Fairchild told Rivals in April that he’s been talking with Tigers offensive line coach James Cregg a lot lately. Unfortunately for LSU, though, Fairchild hasn’t been able to visit Baton Rouge yet.
Perhaps if the recruiting shutdown is lifted in the near future, LSU can get Fairchild on campus. If that happens, it could change the entire outlook of his recruitment.
247Sports national writer Charles Power says Fairchild “plays with natural flexibility and bend with the ability to sink his hips and play with a low, centered base”. Power also noted that Fairchild “has high-level reactive quickness in pass protection as he’s able to mirror and redirect with ease”.
LSU currently has nine commits to their 2021 recruiting class.
