Former LSU football tight end Thaddeus Moss could’ve played in Cincinnati with Joe Burrow.

LSU football’s Thaddeus Moss wasn’t selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, which meant he got to choose which team to sign with as an undrafted free agent.

Ultimately, Moss chose to sign with the Washington Redskins.

On Wednesday, Moss revealed that he passed up an opportunity to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals, which would’ve reunited him with Joe Burrow.

Moss said during a Redskins zoom press conference that he chose to sign with Washington, instead of the Bengals or the New England Patriots, simply because they called first.

It’s a bit surprising that Moss passed up the opportunity to join Burrow in Cincinnati. They had a good thing going in Baton Rouge (Moss was fourth on the team, which was loaded, in receiving yards).

Plus the Bengals’ depth at the tight end position isn’t exactly great.

But I can understand why Moss went with the Redskins. For Moss, this is purely a business decision. And the Redskins, by calling Moss first, showed the most interest.

As an undrafted free agent, there’s no guarantee that Moss will stick on a roster. He had to make the choice to sign with the team that he felt wanted him the most.

It’s possible that Cincinnati just wanted Moss because he was connected to Burrow. Once training camp starts (hopefully it starts later this summer), the fact that Moss is connected to Burrow would mean nothing. It wouldn’t help Moss lock down a roster spot. It would be all about performance and what the team sees in him.

Moss obviously feels like his best chance to stick in the NFL is with the Redskins.

dark. Next. Ja'Marr Chase will be better than some elite wide receivers already in NFL

It would’ve been fun to see Burrow and Moss reunited, but I get why this is the choice that the former LSU tight end made.
