LSU football head coach Ed Orgeron is truly one of a kind.

There are a lot of genuine head coaches in college football (and some not so genuine head coaches), but LSU football’s Ed Orgeron is the most genuine of them all.

And we’re reminded of that fact on a near weekly basis.

This week no was exception.

Coach O, speaking during LSU’s virtual coaches caravan on Wednesday night, pointed out that one of his most gratifying moments as a head coach came on the Monday after the 2020 NFL Draft.

The reason?

Because Orgeron knew his former players made a lot of money after being selected by NFL teams in the draft.

That statement says a lot about Orgeron and who he is as a coach/person. A lot of coaches would be thinking about all the lost talent (several of LSU’s drafted players still had eligibility).

And while I’m sure Coach O would love to have that talent back in Baton Rouge, it’s clear that losing some talented players was the furthest thing from his mind. Instead, Orgeron was simply happy for his former players.

This not only shows what kind of culture Orgeron has built at LSU, but it also shows recruits that the Tigers care deeply about getting players to the NFL.

Coach O and his staff want the best for every player on their roster. They care about the players in a personal way that means a lot.

Not every program has that same approach.

But for LSU and Orgeron, I can’t imagine there being any other type of approach.

That’s just how the Tigers roll.
