LSU football could still add another quarterback to their 2021 recruiting class.

When LSU football landed a commitment from four-star quarterback Garrett Nussmeier earlier this month, it essentially knocked the Tigers out of the race for five-star quarterback Caleb Williams.

LSU was strongly pursuing Williams as well, but it appears he’ll end up at Oklahoma with Lincoln Riley.

But just because the Tigers will likely miss on Williams, doesn’t mean they’re signing only one quarterback in 2021.

LSU would prefer to sign two quarterbacks in this class, which is a good plan. It’s hard to find an elite quarterback. You never know how a player will fare until they actually play in a game. Smart programs don’t put all their eggs in on basket.

If not Williams then who?

I’m sure the Tigers are still working to land Williams, but I’d be shocked if the dynamic quarterback circled back to LSU. His relationship with Riley is too strong. Plus, it was always going to be an uphill battle for the Tigers after losing passing game coordinator Joe Brady to the NFL.

Four-star quarterback Miller Moss, 6-foot-2/197 lbs from Mission Hills, CA (Bishop Alemany), could be the answer for LSU.

Moss is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 7 player in the state of California and the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the nation.

He recently released a top four that included Alabama, LSU, USC and UCLA.

Moss hasn’t visited LSU yet, but he’s highly interested in the Tigers because of their high powered offense.

It’s still going to be tough for LSU to convince a highly rated quarterback to sign with Nussmeier already in the class.

But the Tigers aren’t going to stop working the recruiting trail. And when Ed Orgeron is involved, anything is possible.

LSU presents a unique opportunity for quarterbacks right now. There’s a lot of talent in Baton Rouge that a lot of great quarterbacks would love to play with.
