LSU football is among the top schools for a four-star defensive end.

2021 four-star defensive end Jeremiah Williams revealed his top six schools on Friday and LSU football made the cut.

Williams, 6-foot-3/224 lbs from Birmingham, AL (Ramsay), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 5 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 6 weak-side defensive end in the nation.

Also in Williams’ top six are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Oklahoma.

The Alabama native is described by 247Sports director of scouting Barton Simmons as a player who “has the versatility to line up with a hand down, in a stand-up role on the edge or as an off-the-ball linebacker”.

Simmons also noted that Williams should be an “impact Power Five starter that has the ability to be an early-round NFL draft pick”.

Where does LSU football stand?

Williams isn’t really tipping his hand when it comes to his recruitment.

It’s hard to glean much from what he told 247Sports this week about LSU.

“I just like their swag down there in Baton Rouge. When I took a visit there last year it was real lit and they care about you,” said Williams.

The dynamic defensive end mentioned to Rivals earlier this year that he’s intersted in a career in Marine Biology, which is a major LSU offers (perhaps that could factor into his decision).

Williams admitted that his final decision will come down to his official visits. For now, visits aren’t allowed until after July 31 (at the earliest).

My gut tells me that Alabama is the favorite here. But you never count out LSU when it comes to landing elite recruits. If the Tigers are able to get Williams to Baton Rouge for an official visit, it wouldn’t be shocking to see LSU vault to the top of his list.

LSU and Clemson have a major similarity that's led to success. dark. Next

Williams isn’t planning to announce his decision until the early signing period in December.
