Predictions for LSU football are all over the place heading into 2020.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that no one knows what to expect from LSU football in 2020.

Predictions have been all over the place so far for the Tigers. Some publications think LSU will be a top-five team in 2020.

Others have the Tigers rated a bit lower heading into next season.

Lindys Sports, a sports magazine established in 1982 in Birmingham, is one of the publications that are unsure when it comes to the Tigers in 2020. They have LSU ranked as the No. 8 team in the country in their recent preseason rankings.

LSU football should still be considered a national contender

Lindys Sports said LSU is still a “bona fide power for the future, just not quite this season”.

They added that “Tiger fans should consider a 10-win season a fine follow-up to the national championship”.

While there’s certainly nothing wrong with a 10-win season, I still think it would be a bit of a letdown for LSU in 2020.

The Tigers have the talent to get to the College Football Playoff again in 2020.

Are they going to dominate the way they did in 2019?

Definitely not.

But LSU still has the talent to win a national championship — especially if Myles Brennan has a breakout season at quarterback. Plus it’s hard to imagine the program with the best wide receiver in the nation (Ja’Marr Chase) and the best cornerback in the nation (Derek Stingley Jr) not being a threat to win it all.

Next. LSU and Clemson have a major similarity that's led to success. dark

I think the Tigers are now at the same level as Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. It’s College Football Playoff or bust. Anything less is a letdown.

That kind of pressure can be tough to handle for a program. But Ed Orgeron is a madman when it comes to winning. If anyone can handle that pressure, it’s him.
