LSU football could be adding an elite wide receiver to their 2021 recruiting class.

Rivals national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell thinks LSU football will be landing one of the nation’s top wide receivers in the near future.

Farrell recently updated the recruitment of several top uncommitted wide receivers and he has four-star wideout Chris Hilton landing with the Tigers.

“LSU often gets what it wants in state, unless Alabama steals someone away. This could come down to another Nick Saban-Ed Orgeron battle. I’ve got LSU in this one,” said Farrell.

Hilton, 6-foot-2/175 lbs from Zachary, LA (Zachary), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 4 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 10 wide receiver in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 66 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.

Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M are the other programs in the mix for Hilton.

What would LSU football be getting in Hilton?

Hilton is an athletic receiver who reportedly runs a 4.45 in the 40 yard dash. He’s grown a bit since first being rated by major recruiting services. 247Sports has him listed at 5-foot-11, but Rivals recently updated his height to its current listing of 6-foot-2, which is a prototypical height for a wide receiver.

Hilton is described by 247Sports midland region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks as an “instinctive player with body control who adjusts well to the ball when needed”. Brooks also noted that Hilton is “capable of getting separation quickly downfield and in short game”.

Brooks compared to Hilton to New York Giants wide receiver Corey Coleman, a former first-round pick out of Baylor.

The Tigers don’t often miss on elite in-state talent, so I imagine Farrell’s prediction for Hilton will prove to be correct.
