Quarterback Myles Brennan could make a lasting impact on LSU football.

Myles Brennan, not Joe Burrow, is the quarterback who could turn LSU football into a juggernaut for years to come.

Yes, you read that correctly. And no, I haven’t gone completely crazy.

Burrow certainly ushered in a new age for the Tigers.

LSU went from being a program that managed to get by with quarterbacks who were “good enough” to a program that saw their quarterback explode for over 5,500 passing yards and 60 touchdowns.

But is that what the longterm future of LSU looks like? Can a quarterback other than Burrow have massive success in Baton Rouge?

That’s where Brennan comes into play.

Brennan can change LSU football’s reputation for good

We’ve seen plenty of quarterbacks have massive success at the college level only to see their successors struggle (The Athletic recently pointed out successors of Lamar Jackson at Louisville and Marcus Mariota at Oregon as examples). Just because Burrow had success in 2019, doesn’t mean LSU will suddenly turn into a quarterback factory (which is why we shouldn’t jump the gun and start saying “quarterback U” resides in Baton Rouge).

But if Brennan can put up big numbers at LSU while following Burrow, and get selected in the early rounds of the NFL draft, it will eliminate the “one hit wonder” narrative that will inevitably get tossed the Tigers’ way in 2020.

At that point, we’ll see more top rated quarterbacks, on a national level, considering LSU in their recruitment. For the most part, recent Tigers quarterback signees/commits either aren’t highly rated or they have regional connections to LSU.

If Brennan is successful, that will change.

And if that changes, it means LSU is going to be a nearly unstoppable force.

We already saw what happened with Burrow. Now, imagine the Tigers getting the top quarterback recruits in the nation on a regular basis on top of the elite talent they’re already landing.

dark. Next. Another elite 2021 duo could be on the way to LSU

I almost feel bad for the rest of the SEC. LSU is on the verge of dominating for a long time to come.
