LSU football is one of the programs to beat for a four-star cornerback from Texas.

2022 four-star cornerback Bobby Taylor revealed to Rivals this week that LSU football is among his top three schools.

Taylor didn’t reveal the other schools in his top three, noting that he plans to release a top 10 during the first week of August.

“I have been talking with Coach Raymond and Coach Orgeron a lot, and I can say that LSU is in my top three lists of schools right now,” said Taylor to Rivals.

The talented defensive back added, “I have to say LSU truly sits high with me right now”.

Taylor said one of the reasons that LSU is so high on his list is because the Tigers also offered his teammate, 2022 four-star defensive end Malick Sylla (Taylor said he and Sylla are a “package deal”).

LSU football will have stiff competition for Taylor

While Taylor didn’t get specific about the other programs among his top schools, Notre Dame will almost certainly be one of them.

That’s because Taylor’s father played at Notre Dame from 1992-94 (the elder Taylor went on to play in the NFL for nine years).

Taylor told Rivals that his father isn’t pressuring him into attending Notre Dame.

One thing going for LSU is that Baton Rouge is 13 hours closer to Taylor’s hometown than South Bend.

If the Tigers are able to land Taylor, they’ll be getting a player with a solid pedigree that’s capable of playing anywhere in the secondary.

Taylor recently noted that he mainly plays cornerback, but he rotates to safety when needed. That versatility is important in the SEC (especially as a young player).

LSU currently has five players committed to its 2022 recruiting class.
