LSU football back on top for one of the nation’s top 2021 recruits?
By Zach Ragan
LSU football is in the midst of a heated battle for one of the nation’s top-rated players.
Recruiting is fluid and LSU football knows that as well as any program in the nation.
The Tigers are currently in the midst of a fierce recruiting battle for one of the nation’s top-rated 2021 prospects.
Five-star offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 1 player in the state of Texas and the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 5 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.
It appears that the battle for Brockermeyer is mainly between Alabama, LSU, and Texas.
A lot of folks feel like Texas in the driver’s seat for Brockermeyer, because his dad is a former Longhorns football player. But that’s not necessarily the case.
Last week, Rivals recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman suggested that the race for Brockermeyer is down to Alabama and Texas. Spiegelman had Alabama as the leader for the elite offensive lineman.
However, it might be too early to rule out LSU.
LSU football back out in front for Brockermeyer?
Shea Dixon, who covers LSU for 247Sports, discussed Brockermeyer’s recruitment this week and he had an encouraging report for the Tigers.
“Multiple sources in Texas feel LSU might be considered his top team behind closed doors”, wrote Dixon.
This is huge news for the Tigers. Not only is LSU hoping to land Brockermeyer, but they’re also pursuing his brother, James Brockermeyer.
James is the Tigers’ top 2021 center target. The feeling is that the duo is a package deal.
There’s obviously a long way to go in this recruitment. And the Brockermeyers’ visit to Baton Rouge for LSU’s matchup against Texas this fall will be key. But it appears the Tigers are still a legitimate threat to land one of the best 2021 recruits in the nation.
