LSU Football: Under-the-radar offensive lineman plans to visit Baton Rouge
By Zach Ragan
LSU football could be in the mix for an under-the-radar offensive lineman from Texas.
2021 three-star offensive tackle Erick Cade, an LSU football recruiting target, isn’t a big-name recruit, but he has an offer list that suggests he should be.
Cade, 6-foot-5/313 lbs from Denton, TX (Braswell), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 93 player in the state of Texas and the No. 51 offensive tackle in the nation. He’s also rated as the No. 648 overall 2021 recruit in the nation.
Despite his low rating, Cade boasts an impressive offer list. The Texas native, according to 247Sports, has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, and Texas A&M, among others.
Cade told Rivals this week that he plans to use his official visits on Alabama, Arizona State, LSU, and Ohio State.
A hidden gem for LSU football?
It’s clear from Cade’s offers that the recruiting services missed on their ranking of Cade.
247Sports midland region recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said Cade “could provide position flexibility”. Brooks also said Cade has the “size and strength ceiling to become a quality starter in college”.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cade’s ranking jump up in the coming weeks/months, thanks to his offer list.
It’s clear that the coaches in the SEC West see something special in Cade. You can’t teach size and strength. Ed Orgeron and his staff likely see a lot of usable traits in the Texas native.
Cade told Rivals that he wants to go to a school that can develop guys and get them to the NFL.
And LSU proved this past April that they’re the best in college football at getting players to the NFL.
The Tigers should stand a pretty good shot at landing Cade if they decide he’s a take.
